David Fischer, M.D.
Post-doctoral Fellow
After studying neuroscience and philosophy of mind at Haverford College, I obtained an M.D, from Harvard Medical School, and am completing a neurology residency at MGH/BWH before starting a neurocritical care fellowship at MGH/BWH. Funded by an HHMI fellowship in medical school, I used resting state fMRI to study the brain networks involved in human consciousness, and used noninvasive brain stimulation to modulate brain network activity. Now funded by a NINDS R25 grant, I am using resting state fMRI to study brain networks in acute disorders of consciousness, with the hope of applying these technologies clinically to improve the accuracy of neuroprognostication and detection of consciousness. I enjoy spending time with my family and dog, watching nature documentaries and stand-up comedy, and traveling to see wildlife.
