The NICC Lab is committed to an open, fair, and inclusive lab culture, where everyone is welcome and supported. We celebrate diversity in all its forms and strive to create an environment where everyone can do their best work.  We view our support for patients with disorders of consciousness as part of a larger mission to respect the dignity and rights of all human beings, and we strive for our lab culture to reflect these values. Similarly, we are committed to supporting active-duty military personnel and Veterans by conducting cutting edge research that will improve medical care for the brave men and women who protect our country.

We recognize that members of our community face barriers to access and representation. We also recognize an ongoing need for diversity within our lab and affiliated institutions. We are committed to mentoring and training students from underrepresented groups as future leaders in clinical neuroscience, and we are proud to participate in the Mass General Hospital’s Youth Neurology Education and Research Program.

We are aware of, and seek to eradicate, underrepresentation in clinical research trials. In all of our research studies, we aim to eliminate bias from study recruitment and to ensure that our study enrollment materials are accessible and understandable to people from all backgrounds and experiences.
